Mini Tales: Sunrise

Walking alone as the sun began to rise, her mind was riddled with thoughts. The same thoughts that always consumed her. Consumed her to the point that she couldn’t sleep. Sometimes they were so taxing she found breath alluded her.

How did she get here? As a child she was a dreamer. She dreamed of adventure and far away places. She dreamed of love and purpose. But reality is not kind to dreamers. Reality breaks down everything until all that’s left is dust. Dreamers become remanence of their desires. Reduced to nothing more than lost ambition.

Yes... reality had crushed her spirit for the last time. So she walked. She walked to forget. The sun began to hit the horizon and she stopped.

It was interesting to see the struggle between the light and the dark. How they fought so tediously. The sun constantly pushing forward and the night powerless to do anything but retreat. She wanted nothing more but to fly into that horizon. Get lost in the sun until you couldn’t see her anymore.

But this was her life. This was her reality. She could fight the dark or let it consume her. An easy choice to make but harder to put into practice. She realized as the wind touched her face and her lungs filled with air, that even though everything might not work out perfectly, it would work out. One way or another, the sun always fills the sky. And that was all the comfort she needed right now.
